New England Championship Wrestling proudly presents the 2016 IRON 8 Championship, Saturday night, June 11 at the Americal Civic Center, 467 Main St, Wakefield, MA with a 7 PM bell time.
It’s one of NECW’s biggest events of the year – the most unique tournament event in professional wrestling. 8 men are selected to compete and it begins with an opening round of four single elimination matches. The four winners go on to face each other in a 4 way, 45 minute iron man match. Whoever scores the most pinfalls or submissions in 45 minutes is the 2016 IRON 8 Champion and receives a trophy.
The 2016 IRON 8 contestants are: Slyck Wagner Brown, Brad Hollister who won the tournament in 2014, “Pure Talent” Chris Escobar, Todo Loco, Victory Championship Wrestling (NY) star and former “King of New York” winner, Kevin Tibbs , and former 2CW Champion, who competed in the 2014 IRON 8, Jay Freddie, from Create A Pro Wrestling in NY, T.J. Warren and the final competitor – NECW Heavyweight Champion, “The Masshole” Mike McCarthy, who was the 2015 IRON 8 winner.
In addition to the tournament bouts, there will be a special mixed tag team “Champion’s Challenge” as Jack Maverick, one half of the NECW Tag Team Champions, The Regulators, teams with World Women’s Wrestling Champion, Nikki Valentine, both managed by James Maddox, to take on former Triple W Champion, Mistress Belmont and a mystery partner.
Also just added this week, a return match from our last Wakefield event – a teacher vs. student grudge match – as Beau Douglas, former NECW Television Champion, battles his student, “The Fittest Man” Dan Terry, who is now managed by Mr. Tony Ulysses.
