NECW Spencer Fair Results

New England Championship Wrestling returned to live action at the 123rd annual Spencer Fair in Spencer, MA on Sunday, September 4th with a big card presented in two parts to the many fairgoers in attendance.

The first half began at 3 PM and the event started off with the unlikely combination of “Motor Mouth” Scotty Slade & “Mr Ambiguous” Elia Markropolis spewing insults to the fans in attendance.

Slade & Elia announced that they walked through the Spencer Fair offering an open challenge to anyone willing to accept. Now that the fans are in front of them, they are going to once again offer up an open challenge to anyone who dare step into the ring with them. They told the fans, they would be back later to see if anyone had the guts to accept.

1. Ryan Bisbal defeated Nick Farenheight

This fast paced opener showed the fans a different side of Ryan Bisbal, he didn’t appear to have the same demeanor as he has in the past. He used a style that featured aggressive and not so fan friendly tactics.  Farenheight attempted to use his speed, but in the end, Bisbal’s power proved to be too much for the young upstart. Bisbal put Nick away with a devastating flatline.

2.  Mercedes & Ivy defeated Mistress Belmont & Veda Scott

These four women tore into each other to the delight of the crowd. Mistress Belmont and the debuting Veda Scott were not very popular, as they consistently double teamed fan favorite Mercedes.  Ivy made her presence felt in a big way as she put away Veda with a devastating shoulder block.

“Motor Mouth” Scotty Slade & “Mr Ambiguous” Elia Markropolis came back out to once again challenge anyone to come out and face them. Elia alienated just about everyone with his over the top ambiguity.  Slade grabbed a chair, Elia sat on his lap and stated they would not be moving until someone accepted their challenge.   Just then the sounds from the heaven’s rained down upon Spencer, MA and with his head touching the clouds, the 7 foot, 350lb Giant Pharaoh majestically appeared and accepted the challenge.

3. The Giant Pharaoh defeated Scotty Slade & Elia Markropolis

Elia & Slade attempted to offset the size difference, but in the end the awesome Pharaoh ended up making short work of both to the delight of the fans.

4.  Julian Starr defeated Chase Del Monte

These two went at it from the opening bell, serving up a little bit of everything.  There was classic wrestling.  There was a hige brawl up into the stands, which saw both men grabbing fans’ refreshments and using them as weapons.  In the end, Julian used his speed to his advantage and caught Chase with a stunner for the victory.

The second half started at 7 PM with three more bouts.

5.  Sean Burke  defeated Chris Neil

In a match featuring 2 rising stars in NECW, Sean Burke’s height and power advantage lead him to victory. Neil was very impressive, but Burke’s tenacity was too much to overcome.

6.  Taka Sazuki defeated Eddie Ryan

Action with an international flavor has a long history in NECW and it continued brilliantly in this battle as two different styles and two different countries, met in one ring and the lucky NECW fans at the Spencer Fair got to witness a great technical match up.  This bout featured, too many counters and too many strike variations to detail.  Suffice to say, the fans were left  in awe. Ryan attempted to argue with the referee on the speed of a count, as he did “The Rising Son” Taka Sazuki took the chance to deliver a sick kick to the head, knocking Ryan out and making the cover for the pinfall victory. The fans gave both men a standing ovation as they left the ring.

7.  Bobby Fish & Matt Taven defeated The Dynasty of Champions (Brian Fury & DC Dillinger) with Sean Gorman

The main event started off fast and furious, as Bobby Fish wanted to show that he was back home where he belonged.  The Dynasty and Sean Gorman showed extreme frustration at the beginning, as both Taven & Fish used speed and strikes to keep Dillinger & Fury back pedaling.  After a well timed distraction from Sean Gorman, Dillinger & Fury implemented a game plan of grounding Bobby Fish.  In typical Dynasty fashion, they double teamed Fish to the point of nearly ending the match.

Just when things looked bleak for Fish, he made one last dive at a tag to Matt Taven, who came in and cleaned house. With the Dynasty rocked, Fish took to the air with a plancha taking Brian Fury out of the picture. Matt Taven dragged Sean Gorman into the ring, DC Dillinger always the one to pounce on a situation, thought he could take Taven by surprise with a big boot, only to end up booting his manager Sean Gorman instead, after Taven ducked.  With Dillinger stunned, Taven nailed a huge spin kick. DC hit the canvas and Taven took to the sky, hitting a Frog Splash and getting the victory to delight of the fans in attendance.
